    Relaxation At Work Is A Superpower. Here’s How To Do It

    How many people do you know in your office or business who are running around like headless chickens, trying to get things done? More than you can count, probably. Everyone is in a basic level of stress all day long, only allowing themselves to let it go when they get home in the evening. 

    But this type of stress usually isn’t conducive to good work, both short- and long-term. In the short run, you’re dedicating mental resources to your stress so it is harder to just concentrate on what you need to do. And in the long-term, you get burned out by the constant activation of your nervous system and, eventually, your work suffers. 

    For these reasons, remaining relaxed at work is a bit of a superpower. People who can do it often seem to float through their careers. Nothing disturbs them. 

    In this post, we take a look at some of the ways you can achieve perfect relaxation at work so all of the stresses and strains on the day just bounce right off you. 

    Become Aware Of Your Breathing

    Most westerners breathe by heaving the chest up and down. But if you watch how children breathe, it’s different: they breathe through the stomach, allowing it to protrude. 

    Sometimes called diaphragmatic breathing, this type of abdominal breathing helps to relax the nervous system. You’ll notice that after you take a few inhalations using this method, you feel calmer than you did before. It doesn’t get rid of stress completely, but it does show you that there are things you can do to take the edge off it. 

    Essential oils are powerful tools and can change the way you feel. Lavender, for instance, has tremendous calming properties on the mind and can help you feel immensely peaceful while you work. Even if you get angry emails from your boss, it doesn’t take you out of your state of flow

    If you work from home, you can use a diffuser. These create a fine mist of water and essential oils, filling your entire working environment with a beautiful smell. 

    Take Time Out At Lunch

    Working all day from 9 am until 6 pm without taking a break from your work is actually counterproductive. It makes you much more stressed. 

    Instead, take time out. If you have a joint case, take it with you so that you can spend some time unwinding alone. Relaxing while you eat and drink is critical for putting your body into a healthy mode.

    Go Outside

    If you work in any major city, you’ll notice that there are always people who take time at lunch to go outside and get some fresh air. There are good reasons for this: simply being outside can help you relax tremendously. What’s more, it can set you up for a more productive week by assisting your sleep patterns. More exposure to bright sunlight during the day helps to create hormonal conditions at night that are more conducive to sleep.

    There are always those moments in relationships where you have to decide if you’re going to accept someone’s advice or brush it off. This can be with anyone from your parents, friends, teachers, and even people online that generously offer their wisdom.

    When you receive advice in your virtual mailbox, there is generally a reason why they are offering it, though. They are trying to help you.

    Here are some benefits of accepting someone else’s advice.

    1. They might know about the subject better than you do

    Sometimes it can be easy to feel like you know everything there is to know about a topic, but many people actually have years of knowledge and expertise on whatever it may be. It’s silly to overlook their opinion and not listen to them speak, as they may be able to help you out without even knowing it.

    2. You can change for the better

    By admitting that one of your flaws is something you want to try and change about yourself makes you a stronger individual inside because it shows that you are willing to not only admit it but fight against these flaws. It is an act of bravery and also courage.

    3. You can learn some new things

    By listening to the advice of others, you can learn new things that they might think of or even incorporate their opinions on the subject with your own. This can help you become more open-minded about things and make whatever it may be easier for you to understand.  

    4. You can learn how to solve problems

    When you hear advice on how someone else solved a problem that is similar to what you’re facing now, it makes it easier to solve your problem altogether. It gives you another perspective on the subject and helps you understand it to a greater extent.

    5. You can learn from their mistakes

    A key part of learning from others is learning from their mistakes as well, because there may have been something they didn’t do right or failed at that you can use to your advantage. This helps you to solve the problem faster and not make the same mistakes. 

    6. You can gain a better view of things

    Sometimes when it comes to being in control, people have their own way of looking at things in comparison to how other people see them. This is why when you calculate the advice of others, it gives you a better view of what’s going on or may go on.

    7. You can help them in return. 

    By accepting their advice, you show that you are willing to take what they say into consideration and use it. This can make another person feel good and accomplished in what they’ve done and can even influence them to help you in return if you ever need it.

    By accepting the advice of others, you’re not just doing something for yourself but helping out another person as well. This is because usually when someone offers their advice for whatever reason, it’s because they want to see you succeed and be the best you can be.

Just make sure you’re safe about it by always following proper safety precautions when rock climbing.
