A Fresh Commercial Perspective Can Change Your Next Move

Business Growth Sessions give founders and ambitious professionals practical commercial perspective on challenges, opportunities and decisions, with focused conversations designed to create clarity, action and forward momentum.

Running a successful professional business requires more than technical expertise.

For accountants, solicitors, mortgage brokers and wealth managers, expertise is often the foundation of the business. Clients rely on you for specialist knowledge, professional judgement and trusted advice. But when you are also a founder, partner, director or ambitious professional building a business, there are commercial questions that sit outside your core discipline.

Should you take the business in a new direction?
Is an opportunity worth pursuing?
How should you position a new service?
Should you invest, expand, collaborate or wait?
Where could additional revenue come from?
And sometimes, quite simply: what should I do next?

This is where an experienced external perspective can be useful.

I have introduced Business Growth Sessions as short, focused conversations for business owners, entrepreneurs and ambitious professionals who want commercially experienced thinking around a particular challenge, opportunity or decision.

The purpose is not to create a lengthy consultancy project or produce a report that sits in a drawer. It is to create space to step away from the day-to-day, articulate what is happening and have a strategic conversation that can help bring greater clarity to the next move.

For accountants: look beyond the numbers

Accountants often have an unusually close view of their clients’ businesses. You can see the financial position, but your clients may still need help thinking through what the numbers could mean commercially.

A Business Growth Session could be useful for a business owner considering expansion, acquiring another business, changing their pricing, launching a new service, investing surplus capital or preparing for a significant transition.

It can also be something you make available to clients who need a commercially focused conversation alongside their financial advice.

For solicitors: when the legal question is also commercial

Many business decisions begin with a legal requirement but quickly become much broader commercial questions.

A founder may be restructuring, entering a partnership, acquiring property, negotiating a transaction or considering a new venture. They may understand the legal implications but want to step back and consider the wider business opportunity.

That is where an independent commercial conversation can complement professional legal advice.

The session does not replace specialist legal, financial or regulated advice. Instead, it creates another perspective around the strategic and commercial context in which the decision is being made.

For mortgage brokers: understand the bigger opportunity

Mortgage brokers are frequently involved at an important point in a client’s financial journey. A property purchase, refinance or investment decision can represent much more than a financing requirement.

For entrepreneurial clients, property may connect with business growth, investment strategy, relocation, expansion or longer-term wealth creation.

A focused conversation can help an individual explore the wider commercial thinking around an opportunity before, alongside or after the financing conversation.

For brokers, this can also provide an additional resource to share with clients who are looking for broader entrepreneurial or commercial perspective.

For wealth managers: connect capital with opportunity

Wealth management clients may have capital, experience and established professional networks, yet still be considering what comes next.

They might be exploring an investment, entrepreneurial opportunity, property transaction, business venture or change in their professional life.

A Business Growth Session provides an opportunity to talk through the commercial proposition, the questions that need answering and the practical considerations before moving forward.

It is particularly relevant when the client does not necessarily need another technical adviser. Sometimes they need someone experienced enough to challenge the thinking, ask different questions and help them see the opportunity from another angle.

Why work with me?

My approach is grounded in more than one business discipline.

I bring over 25 years of experience across corporate environments, entrepreneurship, property, business development, client relationships and strategic growth, together with an MBA and experience working across different sectors and international markets.

That breadth matters because business challenges rarely arrive neatly packaged within one professional category.

A property decision can become a financing question. A financing decision can affect business strategy. A new service can require repositioning. An investment opportunity can involve commercial, operational and personal considerations.

My role in these sessions is to bring those different perspectives together and create a focused conversation around what actually matters.

The starting point is always the client’s situation rather than a predetermined methodology.

Three ways to work together

Quick Strategic Reset — 20 minutes | £95
One issue. One conversation. A clearer next step.

Ideal when there is one immediate question, decision or challenge that needs an experienced outside perspective.

Business Growth Session — 40 minutes | £175
Explore a business challenge, opportunity or decision and identify practical actions.

This is designed for a more developed conversation where there are several factors to consider and the client wants to leave with greater clarity and practical direction.

Strategic Deep Dive — 60 minutes | £295
A dedicated conversation around growth, strategy, positioning, commercial opportunities, property or entrepreneurship.

This provides the space for a more substantial discussion where the opportunity or challenge warrants deeper exploration.

All sessions are delivered remotely via WhatsApp or FaceTime, making them straightforward to arrange without the commitment of a traditional consulting engagement.

A useful resource for your clients

If you are an accountant, solicitor, mortgage broker or wealth manager, you may have clients who occasionally need something different from their usual professional advice.

They may be navigating change, considering an investment, exploring a new opportunity, reviewing their business direction or simply looking for an experienced commercial sounding board.

You can share the Business Growth Sessions with relevant clients as an additional resource.

And if you are a founder, entrepreneur or ambitious professional yourself, you do not necessarily have to wait until you have a major problem to seek a strategic perspective.

Sometimes the most useful conversation happens before the decision is made.
