Moving Beyond Outreach To Create Strategic Connections In Person

Lena Benjamin is shifting GrandClave relationship development from outreach alone towards carefully selected events, creating opportunities for deeper conversations with multiple senior-level potential partners.

One of the changes I am making in how I approach GrandClave is moving beyond outreach alone.

Email and direct messages all have a role, but I have identified another route that could be particularly valuable at this stage: being in the room.

My current plan is to attend approximately five to eight carefully selected events where multiple GrandClave targets may be present. This is already beginning to take shape, with registrations for London events during October 2026 that provide potential connections with organisations including Microsoft, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Rolls-Royce, alongside other potential Founding Design Partners.

I am also looking at online events because the same principle applies virtually: if the right people are attending, there is an opportunity to engage, listen and introduce the GrandClave proposition in a more conversational environment.

The strategic attraction is the concentration of opportunity.

Instead of sending individual messages to several people who may or may not respond, one carefully selected event could potentially put two, three or more relevant targets within the same environment.

It also creates something an email cannot easily replicate: presence.

When people see you, hear you and have an actual conversation with you, there is an opportunity to establish a different level of connection. That becomes particularly important when the people you want to engage are senior decision-makers.

I know this from my own commercial experience.

At Scott Wilson PLC, now AECOM, I spent considerable time travelling across the UK to meet key clients and director-level contacts. The moment you engage directly with a project director responsible for a multimillion-pound project, the conversation can become much more commercially useful. You can understand their priorities, identify their challenges and begin to see where a relationship could create additional value.

GrandClave operates in a different sector, but the underlying commercial discipline is remarkably similar.

It is a technology-enabled proposition built around relationships, commercial opportunities and business growth. Private dining becomes the catalyst for strategic conversations between people who have a reason to know each other and potentially create more business together.

That is why I want to experience these conversations myself.

The objective of attending these events is not simply to promote GrandClave. It is to listen, learn, identify patterns, understand how senior people currently approach relationship development and discover where the Executive Relationship Discovery Session could benefit from the contribution of potential Founding Design Partners.

Five to eight carefully chosen events therefore become more than networking opportunities.

They become part of the market-validation and relationship-development strategy for GrandClave.

The next few weeks will tell me which environments generate the strongest conversations, which relationships develop further and where the most commercially relevant opportunities emerge.

That is precisely what a Strategic Move should do: turn an idea into something that can be tested in the real world.
