  • How to Teach Event Planning

    How to Teach Event Planning

There are many different sides of event planning and if you have been successful with event planning throughout your life then you may go through your life wondering why so many other people have trouble with it. If this is true in your case then you may just have to start considering yourself “gifted” and create an event planning company of all your own! There are many advantages of creating an event planning company, but the main one is that you’ll be essentially working for yourself. Even though realistically your business will have clients, you will be able to keep all of the profit you make. Furthermore, many event planners that market themselves as a huge business oftentimes will make a great deal of money when planning a wedding or other large, public event!

On the other hand if you cannot handle everything in your event planning business by yourself then one option you may want to try is to take on an assistant. Of course, you will more than likely have to teach the person everything that you know and have learned about event planning itself, but using an assistant throughout your job could easily take a big load off of your shoulders! Here are some important guidelines, though, if you absolutely have to teach event planning to your assistant or another person, though:

The Customer Gets What They Want

Even though most businesses use this slogan as their motto, event planning specialists really have to do what is necessary so that their clients and customers get what they want. After all, the customer is the one coming to them for help and chances are that they simply don’t know where to find the right tools that they need to plan an event. Additionally, restaurants are the most popular stores for saying that the customer is always right and should get what they want, but everyone knows that oftentimes this rarely happens! For this reason, though, event planners and their assistants must do everything possible to make the client comfortable and confident in their decision of choose them as an event planning specialist!

    Organization Skills

Right below the issue of customer service are organizational skills. There is literally no event planning specialist without superb organizational skills and with all the dates, occasions, and events they have to plan organizational skills should be at the top of their list. Event planning assistants, though, too have a responsibility to organization. Whether it is simply showing up on time or making sure that all the event props are set into place at the appropriate time, organization is important for everyone who gets in the event planning business!

There are plenty of other skills, of course, that are important to an event planning specialist that must be passed off to their assistant! All event planners, however, usually have organizational and people skills, which are two crucial elements of the personality of an event planning professional so that they are able to succeed with all their clients!

If you are an event planner you could systemize the process into an online course or consultancy package which you could sell to other niche event planners for a recurring income. Sound like a great opportunity where you do something once and then get paid while you sleep? We can help! you can either join EmpowerBusinessClub.com to empower your new internet based business or you can get us to do all the work for you! Check out the Virtual Consultancy

  • Creating a Virtual Office with Teleconference Software

Creating a Virtual Office with Teleconference Software

How many people do you think dread going to the office each day for work? There are actually quite a few numbers of people who dislike going to the office for work each day and many people feel that it would just be easier if they were allowed to telecommute from their home offices. Even though it would be much easier, safer, and possibly even cleaner if virtually everyone were able to telecommute from their home to work each day, there probably would be some things during the work day that just wouldn’t get done. However, if you have your own business and need to hire others to help out then it may be quite possible to succeed with teleconference software in order to get things done that need to be accomplished.

Consider what all is involved when you decide that you need to hire more people for your business. This often not only involves advertising for the position, but also involves interviewing applicants, too. And if you are looking for someone to work virtually then there is a whole other dimension added to the dilemma.

However, if you own a small business and have already hired several people to work with, teleconference software is there to help! There are plenty of ways in which teleconference software can be used to create a type of virtual office from which coworkers and bosses can be joined to give updates and reports about how the work is going.

But how, exactly, would you set up your virtual office and direct your employees? You may be surprised to find out that there is quite a bit of teleconference online software designed to help your business flourish. These types of teleconferencing software actually allow you to have your own room, which you can lock and unlock. In this way, you can have private meetings with the employees you would like to talk to, as well as hold daily meetings about the tasks that need to get accomplished for the work week or day.

Here is an example of a typical teleconference meetings that could be used as a daily update for the work that needs to be assigned: the boss would arrive to the teleconference meeting room first and have the virtual meeting room unlocked. The subsequent employees would then “show up” to the meeting room one by one, and the boss could easily see who signs on based on required real names of employees that are used as teleconference usernames. Since there is only one person who usually is able to talk at a time, the boss could inform his or her employees about the tasks of the day. In the process, employees could type questions in the virtual room. At the end of the meeting there would be sufficient time for questions and answers.

A big advantage to using this teleconference software is that bosses can be “in” the room the whole day so that they are available all the time so that employees can ask questions, as needed. Considering that virtual offices, though, need some type of office solution, a teleconference meeting software is the perfect solution to this dilemma! Online teleconference software is definitely the wave of the future and is now used almost daily!

  • 10 Ways to Start Taking Control

10 Ways to Start Taking Control

“Who’s the Boss?” 10 ways to start taking control (time management, goal setting, record tracking)

At first glance, it would seem that positive thinking and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have nothing to do with one another. But many of us with ADD develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward.

Practicing positive thinking allows people with ADD to focus on our strengths and accomplishments, which increases happiness and motivation. This, in turn, allows us to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns:

    1. Take Good Care of Yourself
It’s much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.
    2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For
Stresses and challenges don’t seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.
    3. Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions
A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member’s bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don’t waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about.
    4. Refrain from Using Absolutes
Have you ever told a partner “You’re ALWAYS late!” or complained to a friend “You NEVER call me!”? Thinking and speaking in absolutes like ‘always’ and ‘never’ makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.
    5. Detach From Negative Thoughts
Your thoughts can’t hold any power over you if you don’t judge them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don’t follow it.
    6. Squash the “ANTs”
In his book “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life,” Dr. Daniel Amen talks about “ANTs” – Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like “Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me,” or “The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!” When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!
    7. Practice Lovin’, Touchin’ & Squeezin’ (Your Friends and Family)
You don’t have to be an expert to know the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, is an instant pick-me-up. One research study on this subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from the ones she didn’t touch!
    8. Increase Your Social Activity
By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way!
    9. Volunteer for an Organization, or Help another Person
Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.
    10. Use Pattern Interrupts to Combat Rumination
If you find yourself ruminating, a great way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination is like hyper-focus on something negative. It’s never productive, because it’s not rational or solution-oriented, it’s just excessive worry. Try changing your physical environment – go for a walk or sit outside. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music.

When it comes to the business world, protocol is pretty much the religion. To know the things needed to do are the basics of productivity, but interaction and having a steady mind makes up the entire thing to true productivity. There are those who seem to work well even under pressure, but they’re uncommon ones and we are human and imperfect. To get these little things like stress under our skins won’t solve our problems. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to admit that we’re turning to be workaholics than tell ourselves that we’re not doing our best.

  • Life Mapping: A Vision of Success

Success is more than economic gains, titles, and degrees. Planning for success is about mapping out all the aspects of your life. Similar to a map, you need to define the following details: origin, destination, vehicle, backpack, landmarks, and route.

    Origin: Who you are

A map has a starting point. Your origin is who you are right now. Most people when asked to introduce themselves would say, “Hi, I’m Jean and I am a 17-year old, student”. It does not tell you about who Jean is; it only tells you her present preoccupation. To gain insights about yourself, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values, and principles aside from your economic, professional, cultural, and civil status. Moreover, you can also reflect on your experiences to give you insights on your good and not-so-good traits, skills, knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses. Upon introspection, Jean realised that she was highly motivated, generous, service-oriented, but impatient. Her inclination was in the biological-medical field. Furthermore, she believed that life must serve a purpose, and that wars were destructive to human dignity.

Destination: A vision of who you want to be

Who do want to be? this is your vision. Now it is important that you know yourself so that you would have a clearer idea of who you want to be; and the things you want to change whether they are attitudes, habits, or points of view. If you hardly know yourself, then your vision and targets for the future would also be unclear. Your destination should cover all the aspects of your being: the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Continuing Jean’s story, after she defined her beliefs, values, and principles in life, she decided that she wanted to have a life dedicated in serving her fellowmen.

    Vehicle: Your Mission

A vehicle is the means by which you can reach your destination. It can be analogised to your mission or vocation in life. To a great extent, your mission would depend on what you know about yourself. Bases on Jean’s self-assessment, she decided that she was suited to become a doctor, and that she wanted to become one. Her chosen vocation was a medical doctor. Describing her vision-mission fully: it was to live a life dedicated to serving her fellowmen as a doctor in conflict-areas.

Travel Bag: Your knowledge, skills, and attitude

Food, drinks, medicines, and other travelling necessities are contained in a bag. Applying this concept to your life map, you also bring with you certain knowledge, skills, and attitudes. These determine your competence and help you in attaining your vision. Given such, there is a need for you to assess what knowledge, skills, and attitudes you have at present and what you need to gain along the way. This two-fold assessment will give you insights on your landmarks or measures of success. Jean realised that she needed to gain professional knowledge and skills on medicine so that she could become a doctor. She knew that she was a bit impatient with people so she realised that this was something she wanted to change.

    Landmarks and Route: S.M.A.R.T. objectives

Landmarks confirm if you are on the right track while the route determines the travel time. Thus, in planning out your life, you also need to have landmarks and a route. These landmarks are your measures of success. These measures must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. Thus you cannot set two major landmarks such as earning a master’s degree and a doctorate degree within a period of three years, since the minimum number of years to complete a master’s degree is two years. Going back to Jean as an example, she identified the following landmarks in her life map: completing a bachelor’s degree in biology by the age of 21; completing medicine by the age of 27; earning her specialisation in infectious diseases by the age of 30; getting deployed in local public hospitals of their town by the age of 32; and serving as doctor in war-torn areas by the age of 35.

    Anticipate Turns, Detours, and Potholes

The purpose of your life map is to minimise hasty and spur-of-the-moment decisions that can make you lose your way. But oftentimes our plans are modified along the way due to some inconveniences, delays, and other situations beyond our control. Like in any path, there are turns, detours, and potholes thus; we must anticipate them and adjust accordingly.

  • 5 Helpful Tips

Affiliate marketing programs can really pay off, earning you a generous, if not lucrative, passive income. Affiliate programs, also called referral programs, tend to be commission-based. Affiliate marketers will make recommendations on products. If someone purchases that product, the marketer makes a percentage of the sale.

It’s a win/win scenario, the marketer makes a commission; the merchants make a sale.

In order to become an affiliate marketer, you need to have a website. This can be one you already have or what you must design for the product. The idea is to generate more money from selling the product/service than it cost to produce or run the site.

As with any marketing program out there, you must be mindful of the good and bad ones. Do your homework here. You want a program that gives you several ways in which to make money from the traffic you attain. Rather than selling a product directly to your traffic, you direct them to another site and take some of their profits when a visitor becomes a buyer.

While you may be tempted to become an affiliate with high commission programs, you don’t get anything if visitors don’t make a purchase.

What should you be looking for from an affiliate program?

5 Tips To Choose Your Affiliate Marketing Program

    1. Don’t participate in programs that pay out less than 25 percent commissions. Many programs offer competitive payment structures and high pay percentages in any industry. Do your homework here. Don’t settle for less just because the market is hot.
    2. Learn how payment is made and how often payments are made. Some programs offer a monthly payout while others go with a quarterly setup. You want one that meets your expectations.
    3. Go through the statistics page to find out how many sales, clickthroughs and earnings you could get. This will help you to know what to expect.
    4. Find programs that provide an array of tools to add to your website ñ text links, banners, ads and graphics.
    5. Get involved with a program that offers customer support. If the support cannot answer your questions quickly or doesn’t have the answers you need, then it’s not a program to get involved with.

After you learn what it takes to become an affiliate marketer and what programs are best, you can earn quite a bit of money. As a novice marketer, the prospect of money can be strong, but don’t let it overtake you and your sensibility. As you acquaint yourself with the market, you can branch out and take additional risks that could prove lucrative.

With a bit of hard work and some dedication, you can earn a good chunk of money.

There are many people who’ve decided to become an entrepreneur, partaking in one of the more popular Internet businesses around with affiliate marketing. In this industry, there are no deadlines, bosses or mountains of work to contend with.

The only thing you need to succeed are the tools that make the business possible.

If you plan to succeed in the business affiliate marketing business, there are five key qualities you must have:

    Willingness To Learn

It’s important you have a willingness to learn and be trained. Even if you know about affiliate marketing, rest assured, it’s either one of two things:

    1. Not the right knowledge that will help garner you success.
    2. It’s not enough knowledge to see your goals come to fruition.

It’s always best to seek out expert advice, be open to criticism and have a powerful work ethic.

As a newbie, you need to always have your ears and eyes open. You never know what advice you’ll get that will break open your success.

Willingness To Invest Your Effort and Time

Another important quality to have is your willingness to put in the hard work. Your business will not grow if you don’t put in the time and effort it takes to see it come to fruition. It may be weeks before you hear something good, but the time and effort you put into it will pay off.

    Determination To Succeed

Determination is a powerful force to be reckoned with, especially in the business world. In affiliate marketing, you need the drive to push yourself beyond your comfort zone and boundaries. Your strength and determination will shape your future.

    Self-Discipline

It’s imperative for you to have self-discipline so that you’ll want to put in the work that leads to attaining goals and ensuring your dreams come to reality.

    Be Confident

One extremely important quality affiliate marketers should have is confidence. After all, your attitude is going to play a lot in whether or not you succeed. You alone have the power to shape your future. If you have a positive attitude and are confident in your abilities, you will succeed in your business venture.

Successful affiliate marketers possess every one of these qualities. After all, they know that the affiliate marketing world is full of cutthroat business men and women who want to succeed too. If you possess these qualities, you are sure to go a long way in this up and coming industry.

  • Top Reasons Why You Should Start An Online Business

Starting an online business is no cakewalk. Anyone who suggests that an online business is easy to run or one can make a million dollars in no time is not being realistic. There are serious challenges in running any type of business, be it offline or online. Yet, it is better to start an online business. Here are the top reasons why you should start an online business.

    • There are innumerable people in the world who have great ideas but they are unable to manifest those ideas owing to lack of funds and resources. Starting any type of traditional or conventional business requires substantial investments. Most online businesses can be launched with very little investment. Even a neighborhood convenience store requires a handsome investment and that money is locked in for years. The storeowner doesn’t recuperate the entire investment in one year or even five years. You don’t need such massive capital to start an online business.

    • Most traditional businesses have a significant threshold that must be attended to. You cannot start very small and expect to become a medium sized enterprise or a major brand in a few months. An online business can be launched as a very small initiative and it can grow quickly. This growth doesn’t have to be fuelled by a fortune in investment or tremendous expansion in sheer real estate. Expansion of online enterprises is much easier and hence a business can become sustainable in a much shorter period of time.

    • An online business can be started by anyone, from anywhere and it can make its presence felt anywhere in the world. You don’t need to be in a particular state or country to sell your digital products or services. Conventional businesses are bound by location, the immediate target audience and local influence. An online business can start local and become global in a few months.

    • The sheer scope of online business opens up a colossal realm of opportunities. Ideas that wouldn’t have made much business sense a few years ago are now gold mines that can make one a millionaire, if not a billionaire. There is room for every innovative idea and ever type of business that can add some value to the lives of people or companies around the world.

    • An online business allows entrepreneurs to make as much or as little money as one want depending on the time, effort and resources one is willing to invest in the enterprise. There is of course the life work balance and personal freedom, both of which are unmatched perks of running an online business.

  • How to Validate your Niche by Researching your Competition

Digital enterprises or online businesses are not bound by geography or stringent local regulations. This makes it easier to start a business but it doesn’t make running the business any easier. Competition is fierce in almost every niche. Whatever your niche is, you should validate it by researching your competition. Let us explain how you should go about this and also why.

    Demand and Supply!

The essence of most businesses can be boiled down to one reality, demand and supply. If there is enough demand then you can cater to the supply. If there isn’t enough demand, then catering to supply doesn’t make any sense. If there is only one diner in a locality, then it is likely to do well. If there are too many diners and not many people to fill up all those places, then most of those enterprises will run out of business.

Likewise, a digital enterprise or any online niche must have enough demand for there to be space to exist. While firms or endeavours can always coexist, the pie gets smaller and there is just less in it for everyone. The hard reality is that if there are enough players in a niche already and some of them have already amassed a massive market share, then penetrating their share or usurping a chunk of it will be a herculean task.

Study your competition to find out how large a market is and if some of your competitors are already catering to the needs of the audience. If you intend to do the same thing in the same niche, then there is little or no possibility for your enterprise to find a foothold, let aside being a roaring success.

    Niche within a Niche!

It is unlikely that the niche you have planned to target will be completely void of competition. There may be stiff or less competition. If there are players already with humongous market shares and dedicated customers or audiences, then you need to find a niche within a niche. You cannot cater to the same exact niche that your competition is committed to.

For instance, if you are planning to target the niche of food, cuisine or anything culinary, then you can find some subset that the existing players have not touched upon yet.  If that is not possible, then you must figure out what you are best at and use that authority to create a niche within a niche. It is all about the value you can offer to your audience and how you help, change or enrich their lives.

  • Be True to Yourself

SIDE NOTE: the photo is of me on the Metro in Paris, France going to see the Eiffel Tower for the first time. I was excited to see that one of the Metro station names resembled my name!

If your online marketing material stimulates an image in your mind that is just not you, likely you’ve been trying to model your approach after someone else or you’ve been using work produced by someone else without giving them the benefit of knowing you, learning your approach, sharing your ideas and interjecting your personality into the material.

    So, what’s the solution?

The solution to this dilemma is to be yourself and let your personality show through in your online marketing materials.

If you are writing a blog entry in the midst of a snowstorm and it is “a bit nippy outside” don’t hesitate to say so. When you let your personality shine your image will be your own, not one you have crafted that will change from day to day depending upon what you have read most recently.

There’s lots of talk about branding in regard to online marketing. The basic principles of branding are to decide on the image you wish to portray and what message you want to drive home.

While some people could write a book on how to brand your business, there are really only a handful of factors to consider – your image, your purpose and your message. The purpose of a brand is to craft something that will stick in the minds of people and help them to remember your business.
Creating and building a strong brand does not have to compromise your personality.

The only real decision is whether you want to be casual or professional. In the world of online marketing, retaining your personality and your identity will go far in branding your business. You’ll be much happier with the long-term effects of your online marketing if you don’t try to be someone you are not. Be yourself and have fun.
